Straight.
Tonight it’s almost too straight. By tomorrow it should relax a little bit and just be normal straight, not straightening iron straight. It took about five minutes to blow it dry, with no brush or anything, and it’s pin straight. I can’t believe it. It’s my two-years-old hair again.
It took two and a half hours. I had to wear a mask for some of it. Wasn’t an army-style gas mask like I was hoping, but a hospital mask. The fumes were a little bit stinky, but not bad at all. I asked her to show me the bottle and I parsed it for any formaldehyde or any other -hyde (there wasn’t any) before we started. The lady was like, “Girl! Get ready! You won’t believe it!” and I honestly didn’t believe it until I came out the other end.
My hair feels incredible. Slippery silky and it’s really reflective, so it shimmers almost blue. There is not one iota of product in it and it’s humid as eff today and it’s perfect. A stranger literally asked me to feel my hair when I was paying for the service.
I feel a little bit weird, though. I don’t like to look like I made an effort - it’s hits a vanity chord in me - but there’s no getting around the fact that an effort has been made in the pursuit of beauty. I keep telling myself it’s due to my double whammy of being incredibly lazy and looking 23; that I needed to do this to look reasonably adult and put together. But at the end of the day, I just wanted pretty hair.
